I want to work in my purpose, but I’m stuck doing this!

Even though you are aware that God has called you to a particular task or calling, you may frequently feel discouraged because you are stuck in your current situation rather than pursuing your goals. We must realize that it will all happen in God’s timing. Yes, that may seem easier said than done, but I ran into something on SM yesterday that told me that:

David waited 12 years

Abraham waited 25 years

Joseph 13 years

Noah 120 years

Wow, this really touched me because it shows me that there is a time for waiting. I want to tell you today that God is aware of your struggles and sees you. Don’t be discouraged by your everyday duties but encouraged that the Lord has blessed you with a way to be self-sufficient and work a job using a skill or trade that you have been blessed to have. For example, in Acts 18:1–4, Paul, a tentmaker, has met people who do the same work as him. He works to support himself but still preaches to persuade the Jews and Greeks every Sabbath. What an example! Don’t be a complainer; instead shift your perspective to know that because you work a job doesn’t mean you can’t do what God has given you to do. It may take some sacrifice, but with God all things are possible. Don’t wait until you think you have everything else worked out; instead, begin working on what God has called you to do, even if you are in a waiting season like Noah, who had to build the ark first.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Psalm 121:1
