Your Focus Will Affect Your Life

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” — Isaiah 26:3

Looking back on my life, I can honestly say there have been times when I was guided by things that didn’t line up with Scripture. I made choices that negatively impacted my business, my home, and my personal relationships.

Today, I want to ask you: What is your focus?

Are you focused on the things above or the temporary “feel-good” desires of the flesh? Often, we start with the right insight—our priorities are in order, and our vision is clear. But then, a distraction occurs, or “life happens.” Slowly, we begin to see the world through

earthly eyes rather than spiritual ones. When this happens, we lose our grip on the truth.

So, what do we do when we realize our minds have been weathered and seared by the world? How do we get our focus back on the Lord and return to a place of trust?

1. Trace your steps.
Go back to the moment you first noticed a change. This might require sitting down alone with a journal and looking long and hard at yourself and the patterns you’ve developed.

2. Repent and return.
Pray and ask for forgiveness for getting off track and failing to trust in God. Go back to the basics of your faith.

3. Make the necessary changes.
Let go of the things that aren’t holy. Seek the Lord continually by praying and meditating on His Word.

It is time to get your focus back. Don’t dwell on where you are now; instead, look forward to where He is leading you
