Choosing His Path For Me

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” — Psalm 139:14
I feel like I’ve been harping on values for the past week. However, it is amazing how much things change as we age, and values play a massive part in who we become. Looking back on my upbringing, I made a decision early on that I did not want to carry certain family ideals into my adult life.
For me, my principles are what drive and center me. They force me to ask: What do I stand for, and am I practicing what I believe?
As you know, I stand firmly on my faith, and my morals come directly from the Holy Bible. Real change started for me when I truly learned who I am in Christ Jesus. There is not a single biblical principle that I haven’t grown from, or that hasn’t helped me break away from the past when it tries to hold me down.
Knowing who you are and what you believe makes all the difference. When you are unsure of your motivations and core values, you easily become prey. Before you even realize it, you can forget who you are, find yourself doing things you never imagined, or slip back into the very past you disliked.
I want to encourage you today to reflect on your beliefs. Take a moment to determine whether you are truly living up to your ideal self.
